The Power of Technology

As I write this blog, I have a confession to make: I'm typing onto my new website and listening to myself speaking in my ear simultaneously. Yep, listening to myself. Yikes!
How is that even possible? It's the final edition of the first season of weekly episodes of my radio show #ReedOnAIR on AIR Toronto Radio before we go on our summer hiatus and return to the airwaves for our next season kicking off this September. Until then, though, it's going to be a busy summer, and it all starts tonight at 30,000 feet as I race towards my first summer vacation destination right now.
I'm heading to Las Vegas for a fun four-day long weekend in the desert, with the mystery and the fantasy and the unmistakable whimsy that makes Las Vegas so uniquely and quintessentially Las Vegas. Meanwhile, though, I'm on the plane and listening to this pre-prerecorded edition of my show streaming right now on GoGo WiFi through Bluetooth Beats by Dre PowerBeats Wireless headphones, all on a tablet that stands on a mountable keyboard that also uses the magic of Bluetooth to allow me to type this blog in real time.
So let's recap, shall we? I'm aboard on iron board cruising at 500 miles per hour at an altitude of 30,000 feet above the continental United States while uses technology to beam my voice into my ear — a voice on a radio network whose concluding edition of my show was pre-taped hours before at the offices I've left behind me in the heart of Manhattan in New York City.
Talk about the power of technology.
In the interim, once the show is over, the next thought on my mind will be Las Vegas! Any fun spots or favorite destinations there? Personally I'm taking my friends' recommendations of an afternoon at the Venetian, breakfast at the Wynn and Bouchon Bakery, a show this Saturday night, and, of course, tons of great eating! Can't wait.
